United Methodist Women

Purpose

The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Calendar of Scheduled Unit Meetings and Program Topics

The Hillsboro unit of United Methodist Women meets monthly from September through April, with special events in May and June. Meetings are held at the church, except as noted, on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m., beginning with coffee. Upcoming programs include these:

February 25: Western Distict Local Officer Training Event, Mollala.

March 7: "Revisiting Recycling" by Kathy Hanna and Cynthia Polsky, Master Recycler Program Volunteers

March 12: Western Distict Annual Meeting, Nehalem

April 4: "A Holy Week in the Holy Land" by Rev. Clay Andrew

May 2: Annual Mothers and Others Dessert 7:00 pm

June 1-3: Western Jurisdictional Quadrennial Event - Waterfront Marriott Hotel, Portland.

June 6: Ladies Lunch Out at 11:30 am.

July 12-15: School of Christian Mission at George Fox University, Newberg.

September 5: Welcome Back Tea at 10am.

September 22: Western District UMW Annual Meeting.

October 3: "Your Neighborhood School" Guest Speaker, Jason Olson, Principal, Lincoln Street Elementary

October 27: Conference Annual UMW Meeting, Caldwell, Idaho.

November 7: Pacific College of Health Professions Show and Tell Tour by Sadie Williams.

December 5: "Homelessness at Christmas" Annie Heart, Family Bridge Director

December 8: Cookies 'n' More

Three circles, smaller groups for fellowship and study, also meet monthly.

Share, Prayer & Care Group meets the second Wednesday at 10:00 am at Cornell Estates. Chairperson: Florence Waters 503-648-2908

Miriam Circle meets the second Wednesday at 9:30. Chairperson: Kitty Crisman, 503-649-1484.

Love Circle meets the second Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Chairperson: Linda Cornish. 503-648-7684.
