Christmas Basket Program
We are taking a new direction with the Christmas Basket Program this year by partnering with the Hillsboro Family Resource Center (HFRC). We hope this partnership will allow us to build more and stronger relationships with families in the church neighborhood. The HFRC will begin accepting applications on November 3rd. Families must be able to demonstrate they live in the Hillsboro school district and have a student attending school. There is a fixed number of families that will be accepted so, if you know of a family that is interested, make sure they apply at HFRC as soon after the 3rd as possible. One benefit of partnering with HFRC is that they conduct interviews with each applicant family to assess their needs. Sponsors such as HUMC can then supply those specific items, in addition to the gifts and delivery service we have provided through our program in previous years.
After the application process, HUMC will be supplied with a list of families we can sponsor. We are working with the HFRC coordinator to ensure any families that are associated with Lincoln Elementary are added to our list so we can continue to grow our relationship across the street. We will begin requesting volunteers to sign up for gift and delivery help around Thanksgiving. Look for more updates in the worship bulletin announcements in November and December.
