Rebuilding Together Washington County
Rebuilding Together is a non-profit organization preserves affordable housing by repairing and rehabilitating homes of low income homeowners, particularly the elderly, disabled, and families with dependent children. The work may include dry rot repairs, painting, roof repair, plumbing and electrical repairs, window and door replacement, and accessibility modifications. They organize an annual event called National Rebuilding Day. During the 2009 event, over 500 volunteers made repairs on 30+ homes across Washington County. The Fellowship Hall of HUMC serves as the morning assembly point for volunteers working on sites in Hillsboro and several church members volunteer to provide refreshments.
