Summer Lunch Program
For kids, the end of the school year is an exciting time in anticipation of summer vacation. However, for many kids in low income families, the end of the school year means losing access to free lunches. The summer lunch program is a partnership between the USDA Summer Food Service Program, Hillsboro School District Nutrition Services Department, Hillsboro Parks and Recreation, Hillsboro Family Resource Center (HFRC) and other organizations to provide activities and a free lunch during the summer months. Our church has committed to providing volunteers every Tuesday at the HFRC location (David Hill Elementary at 4th and Oak). We need volunteers to pick-up and deliver the lunches from Lincoln Elementary, organize an activity, and help serve lunch. Volunteers will need to be at HFRC from about 11 to 12:30.
