Children’s Ministries

Children are invited to participate in the full life of the congregation.  During worship, children are always welcome to remain with their families, or they may choose to participate in our Sunday morning children’s experiences:

Singing Time

Immediately following the Children’s story time in worship, children gather in the parlor to sing songs together, led by our Music Ministries Leader, Betty Busch.  Following singing, children are welcome to go on to the Nursery, Godly Play or back to worship with their families.

For more Information

If your children want to participate or if you are interested in working with the children of the congregation, we would love to have you experience the joy of this ministry!  Contact Kathy Hanna at 503-709-2135, kathy_hanna71@yahoo.com or the church office.

Nursery Care

Child care is available in our nursery during Sunday morning class and worship and also during many other church events.  Infants through preschool aged children are cared for by our Leader of Childcare Ministries and a Nursery Assistant and/or nursery shepherd who have been background checked and safe sanctuary trained.

Godly Play

Godly Play materials are designed for children ages kindergarten through 5th grade

On Sunday mornings, the children gather on the stage in the Fellowship Hall following the Singing Time to explore scripture and spiritual life through storytelling and creative play.   During Advent and through Epiphany, the focus is on the Christmas story.

Youth Faith Formation

Discussion based group, inspired by biblical passages and themes

On Sundays from 10am until the sermon part of worship begins, youth in grades 6-12 are invited to join us upstairs in the arcade for our weekly gathering.  This spring, we will adapt the Class Meeting discussion model, prompted by a scripture theme to reflect on how God is at work in our lives. Following the class, we join worship in the balcony for the sermon through the conclusion of worship.

We also participate in service projects regularly, from making and serving soup to homeless veterans, to baking and decorating cookies to benefit local missions, to this Summer’s Idaho Mission Project trip!
