&= nbsp; Do you want to boost self-esteem in your children = and reduce the odds of risky behaviors? The April addition of the journal P= ediatrics reports on a study of 12,000 teens. This study found that those who participate in physical ac= tivities with their parents had higher self esteem and improved academic pe= rformances.

&= nbsp; So grab your kids or grandkids and have fun with t= hem at family camp. July 27-3= 1 our church will have family camp at Wallowa Lake in Northeast Oregon. It will be a time to rest, play = and renew as a family within a church family. This camp is during Chief Joseph Days so you will have an = opportunity to go to a rodeo, watch Native American dancing and meander thr= ough a crafts fair. Help Feed the Hungry<= /p>

Every week be= tween now and June you will find that huge jar on the wagon in the foyer. Our goal is to fill that jar w= ith coins! We have a long way= to go! All of the money from= the jar will go to help feed the hungry.&= nbsp;

The= fact is that hunger is not going away.&nb= sp; Instead it is increasing. = Every year for the past 5 years every food bank in the greater Port= land area has increased the number it feeds by almost 10%. That is 10% more than the higher total from t= he previous year. Poor people= and children need our help. = Please save your coins and help to fill up our jar by June 4^th.<=

Our SE’= s have been totally awesome! = You have made many teachers/leaders feel loved and appreciated. The last Sunday for church school class= es will be May 21st. Beginnin= g Memorial weekend we will worship at one 10 am service.<= /p>

On = Sunday, June 11th, the teachers will say “Thank You” to their S= E’s by providing a delicious breakfast at 8:45. Secret Encouragers will be revealed at this time!<= /span>

We have new art

Two= special oil paintings are on display in the sanctuary. They are the work of Joyti Mary Biswas, a woman = new to our congregation. She = painted them to honor God during the Easter season. They are beautiful!=

In = her own words, Joyti describes her paintings. The one with flowers reads - “Peace and Harmony” So long as the grace of God prevails, there will be tra= nquility in the heavens and on water. = ; Flowers will blossom on earth spreading the message of peace and h= armony. The one with clouds r= eads – “Hope in Dark Times” The cross, amidst dark clouds, signifies hope for mankind = during trouble and tribulations. It portrays the resurrection of Christ and the promise of His second co= ming.
