Vision & Mission

Loving Everyone. Building Community. Serving Selflessly. Following Christ.

Vision & Mission – The Mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our Congregation’s Vision Statement is loving everyone, building community, serving selflessly, following Christ. Our congregation worked together for many months, through town hall meetings, small group dinners in homes, surveys and meetings to create our vision. This vision statement provides our strategic direction and describes what we want our church to achieve in the future.

Loving EveryoneLoving Everyone – Every single person is a beloved child of God, there are no conditions or restrictions. God loves everyone and so should we.

Building CommunityBuilding Community – We believe there is always room for one more or many more at the table and we must work to build relationships with one another within the congregation, with all who set foot in this building, with our neighbors and community partners and people everywhere.

Serving SelflessltyServing Selflessly – Putting our own gifts, talents, energy and passion to work for the benefit of the community and the world.

Following ChirstFollowing Christ – As Christians, we must continually learn more, strengthen our spiritual practices and live our lives according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

For more than a year now we’ve had this as our vision statement – a picture of what we think it looks like for  our church to be faithful to God.  You probably know the words by heart. You may even recognize the icons we have for our vision statement.

But what does it really look like when our vision is lived out? it looks like a church that welcomes twelve step recovery groups into our building and provides childcare for them. At one of these meetings last month more than 100 people were in attendance –  that’s about the number of people in worship each Sunday morning. And THAT meant that I got a call from Katie, one of our awesome nursery workers, asking me to help out. When I got to the church. I had to search for several minutes to find a place to park. This is what we mean when we say that we love everyone and that we want to build community.

That night was a wonderful reminder of how much happens in the life of our church throughout the week. It seems so simple and so obvious, but it makes such a difference in our community.

That’s just one example of how our vision really is helping us to focus on the things that matter. My hope and prayer of our congregation is that we continue to follow where God leads, do what God calls us to do and to trust that God will be with us.

This is a great place to be in ministry. Thank you for your faithfulness and your boldness!
