October 5th - 6:30: Create a plan for "can sculpture" project. Games!
October 12th - 6:30: Create "can sculpture". Games!
October 19th - 11:30 am: Cider making at the Sheets'. Leave from church after service.
October 22nd - Youth team meeting in Fireside Room at church – all youth group kids are welcome – come and help plan!
October 26th - 11:15 am: Harvest Festival. The big reveal of the can sculpture! Help with Harvest Festival setup and games.
The "can sculpture" is a sculpture made out of the cans everyone will be bringing to church for the Harvest Festival food drive. We will be creating a large sculpture out of the cans. Maybe a "canasaurus" or a "canafly" or a "canabeast!"
Sierra Service Project
We know -- it's not until next summer, but the deadline for deposits is mid-November so we need to plan way ahead. This is a really terrific project for our youth -- and this year there will be opportunities for the Jr. High youth as well. The Sierra Service Project is SSP has been providing life-changing service experiences for young people since 1975 iwhich young people learn first-hand the joys of Christian service to others. Most of the projects take place on Indian reservations, where youth spend their days repairing homes and their evenings in worship, discussion and recreation. Many HUMC youth and adults have participated in this service opportunity.
If you, or your child, would like to go next summer talk to Gwen or Christine - there is a $50 deposit due by November 15. We will be doing a lot of fundraising to make this possible for our youth. For more information: www.sierraserviceproject.org.
