Hillsboro United Methodist Church is more than just a congregation that meets on Sunday mornings. This building is buzzing all week long with many community organizations across the community. Though these “ministry partners” as we like to consider them, are each autonomous organizations, we are proud of the work they are doing and happy to support one another.

CURRENTLY WE ARE LIMITED TO A FEW VERY SMALL GROUPS MEETING IN PERSON IN THE BUILDING. Many of these groups are meeting remotely or elsewhere at this time. Contact the church office for more information.

Hillsboro Parent Preschool + Kindergarten

Hillsboro Parent Preschool and Kindergarten is a community that inspires children’s creativity, wonder and love of learning. In this safe, nurturing environment, preschool and kindergarten students are encouraged to develop a stronger sense of self, learn problem solving skills, and build relationships. Active parent participation allows families to feel connected and valued for their capabilities and differences as they gain insight into child development, guidance, discipline, and learning styles.

Three fee-based offerings for children; must be pre-enrolled. Classes meet September through May. Blue class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00am – 11:30 am. Green class meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9:00am-12:00pm. Kindergarten meets Tuesdays through Fridays, 8:45am – 12:45pm. Who: We are Scouts BSA Troop 240 – Chartered by the Hillsboro United Methodist Church since 1954

We are a very active Troop that strongly utilizes the Patrol Method and has equally committed adults to support the scouts in their journey.

Our Scout-led, Scout-run Troop is recognized by the community and the District as being well organized and committed to excellence.

Scouts BSA is for Boys and Girls ages 11-17. We are currently looking to add a girls Troop to 240 as well.

Where: We meet at the United Methodist Church on the corner of 8th and Lincoln in Hillsboro, Oregon*

When: Weekly, Monday night Troop Meetings start at 7:00 PM and end around 8:30 PM. Merit badges classes or other meetings may be held earlier on the same day.

* Currently with the COVID restrictions we are meeting via the virtual space as a Troop and in smaller groups to go outside.

An all-volunteer, independent, unincorporated membership organizing drive of low-income farm and seasonal workers. Members can access our free of charge self-help benefit program – built by members for members – which offers emergency food, clothing, preventive medical care, legal advice and more. This benefit program is supported entirely by WFWA allies throughout the community. WFWA accepts no government money or other money with strings attached.

LADO translates as By Your Side. LADO is a program that trains, certifies and supports culturally and linguistically competent Oregon and SW Washington community leaders to stand by the side of Latina Mothers in birth and post partum. The presence of a Doula has proven to improve birth outcomes and exclusive breastfeeding. In ancient Greece, a doula was a woman who supported other women in a variety of ways. Today doulas are professionally trained to provide personal, non-medical support for women through pregnancy, birth and post partum. LADO approach is to recruit form the community of Mothers we will serve. LADO Community Based Doulas Training is grounded int the principles of Popular, Experiential and Multi-Cultural Education and Emotional Intelligence.
