Non-denominational Women’s Weekly Bible Study

Home-Based Bible Study

This Women’s Bible Study meets 9:30 to 11:00 every Thursday morning at Eleanor Mills’ home in Hillsboro.  This study, which goes through the Bible a chapter at a time, has been meeting for over 35 years.  Under the able leadership of Eleanor Mills who gathers commentary from her resources of more than 50 books, she provides a summary each week on the material being covered. Through the years they have become a support and friendship group as well as learning how the Bible relates to living in the world today. There is no homework but they do use a small book in class titled “Genesis to Revelation” by James E. Sargent, the NIV version, and will be studying Galatians.  Stay for coffee, treats and conversation afterwards.  Half of our group are Methodists and the other half are from other denominations.  You can join at any time as there is always room for one more.

Women of Faith Study, Discussion, and Sharing as Christian Women

Women of Faith is a shared leadership book/bible study group. We meet on Tuesdays, September through May, from 12:00 (noon) – 1:30.  You are welcome to bring a lunch or snack.  We are currently studying Animate: Practices.  Animate is an eight-week study of the central practices of the Christian faith, that uses video presenters and minimal reading to spark weekly conversations.

Women’s Evening Fellowship

Responding to Prayer Requests

Twice a month a group of dedicated women gather around the dining room table at Susan Jensen’s home for devotional discussion and sending cards in response to prayers lifted in worship.  We lovingly build community as we follow Christ with our gift of time and compassion.

Please contact Susan Jensen at the $crip Table most Sundays after worship if this sounds like a ministry for you.  Women’s Evening Fellowship meets the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 7:00 pm.

United Methodist Women

Committed to wholeness for ourselves and for others – especially women, children and youth

Following Christ

following Christ

The United Methodist Women of our church are part of the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice. Our purpose is to know God, to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission.

Our Activities

Unit Meeting

Our activities include a monthly “unit meeting,” at 10:00 am on the first Wednesday of each month from September through June.  Programs relate specifically to concerns for women and children, both locally and globally.   On December 7th at 11am our program is “Lincoln Street School Chorus” Directed by Dan Bosshardt.  January and February programs will be published in our 2017 program book, due out in December.  Smaller “Circle” groups meet on the second Wednesday of each month in addition to special events and activities.

Cookies ‘n’ More

UMW raises funds for mission giving through its annual “Cookies ‘n’ More” sale, to be held December 3rd from 10am – 1pm.  This year proceeds from the event benefit NAMI of Washington County, our Community Trading Post and the Oregon Food Bank.
Everyone from the church is invited to participate by providing decorative holiday cookies, candy and other sweet treats sold by the pound. UMW also offers services such as wedding and memorial service receptions. On the district and conference level, UMW offers leadership training and mission education. All women of the church are invited to participate.  Newcomers are always welcome.
